Byron gets his head shaved off! By Andreina

Byron's hair style


In the book The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis Byron get's into a lot of trouble. He gets in to a lot of trouble when he does this which makes the parents of Byron very angry.Mama, Kenny, Joetta are all at home in Flint, Michigan and Kenny is helping Mama with the cooking. When Byron then comes home he has his hat covering his whole head and when he walks in to the kitchen he runs into Mama. When Mama see's him she asks him why does he has he's hat covering his face, he then makes a excuse and tries to make a break for it but Mama then stops him.When Mama then snatches the hat from his head she is angry and surprised at what Byron has done, he had gotten a Mexican style hair-do, and she said that he didn't even look her son. Kenny was very surprised at what he had done.Mama was ready to beat him because she talking in southern style but Joetta keeps stopping her so then she just gave up but Mama is still furious and waits in till Papa comes home.

Kenny, Joetta, and Byron all goes into their bedroom and Kenny starts making jokes, he knows Byron won't do anything because he is in enough trouble. As the family waits for Papa to come home Joetta starts asking why Byron did it and he said it would make him look cooler. When Papa came home Mama told him what Byron had done and wanted to it to him. When Papa saw Byron he asks him why he did it and how and says it would make him look cooler and Buphead had made the style. Instead of getting angry Papa asks Byron to come into the bathroom with him, when they are in the bathroom Papa locks the door, Kenny follows and looks through the key hole. He then sees that Byron's hair was getting shaved off. When they got out of the bathroom Byron's head was bald and the family was happy.

Kenny meets Rufus

When Kenny meets Rufus in the bus he thought he was his saver. Kenny meant that because he thought he was going to be make fun of more than Kenny. Kenny became friends with Rufus.Kenny saw Cody rufus brother and looked at him like a little Rufus. Sometimes Kenny invited him to his house and play with dinosaurs. One day in the bus there was a joke made about Rufus and kenny laughed so Rufus got mad. So Kenny's mom called Rufus parents if he can come over to talk to Kenny about what happend. So Rufus went to kenney's house and they talked about what happend. Kenny said he'll stop laughing when therees a joke about him. So Rufus accepted Kenny's apology. Also they stated being friends again and nice to eachother. Kenny heard what Rufus said that he shoots squarrles and eat them. But only fat ones. Also Rufus mentioned he shoot with a gun and his brother Cody too.

The Church Bombing

In the Watsons go to Birmingham by Chrictopher Paul Curtis, the family goes to Birmingham, Alabama because of Byron's bad behavior in Flint,Michigan 1963. While the family is in Birmingham, Joetta goes to a sunday school in a all black people church. Kenny is laying outside by the tree when he hears a loud boom. Everyone was running, the Watsons all went to the Church Joetta was in. They found out later that Joetta was alive, but it was because of Kenny that she survived.She claimed that she saw Kenny, so she ran after him.But really, Kenny was confused, because she really didnt chase after him. Instead,what he saw was the Wool Pooh taking her away.The police said that 2 white men blew up the church.There was an accident, 4 little girls died during the bombing.Christopher Paul Curtis dedicated this book to the 4 girls.

Grandma Sands
In the book The Watsons Go to Birmingham- 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis, Grandma Sands is the mother of Wilona Watson and the grandmother of Byron, Joetta, and Kenny. Grandma Sands live in Birmingham, Alabama where there was still segregation going on. It took them three days to go to Grandma Sands house In the book Byron says that when he met Grandma Sands she was a mean old lady. When Kenny meets her she was a bit more then what he expected. She was shorter, looked very old and laughed like a madwomen. He was also happy that he got to meet his grandmother since he hasn't seen her in a long time or his mother.

The reason why the Watsons go to Birmingham is because of Byron's behavior at home in Flint, Michigan, they think that if Byron stays with Grandma Sands he will learn that life is not a joke.
Grandma Sands also has a boyfriend named Mr. Robert who has a store named after him and has a dog named Toddy that is a gray old dog that use to hunt but not anymore. Grandma Sands begins trying to have a relationship with Byron, Joetta, and Kenny but she have's a hard time with Byron because Byron doesn't like her very much. After the church got bombed, Grandma Sands made sure that the family was fine epically Joetta. She made sure the family was not hurt in anyway and let the family know what had happened.

THE WOOL POOH


I didn’t even believe one word Byron was saying. He said that Winnie the pooh had an evil twin the wool pooh. He said it live in the water in collier landing. But I dint believe him one bit. I was going to prove to him that his lire. Better than going to the beach I went to collier landing the water was so blue dark. I was thinking that collier just was trying to keep this to himself greedy man. I jumped in the water. They were little fish tickling my feet I tried to grab them but they were too slippery. Out in the deep I saw a big old turtle just standing there I went deeper to try to get it. When I got there it swam away. I was in big trouble I had swum to the deep and I was drowning. After my head went down twice I knew I was done for. I had felt a creepy hand trying to grab me I felt so scared. I knew I was going to die I kicked the water trying to escape but he was too strong for me but then I felt some one helping me and kicking the wool pooh.I was so relieved but still scared Bryon got me out of the water. He was crying when I saw him he was like mumbling my name like "kkeeeennnnnyyy!!!!" he started hugging me very tight me and him went walking home together. He said "don't mention this to nobody" OK I said
